Unable to deal with the demands that his new fame brought, in 1987, at the age of twenty-seven Basquiat, the most successful black visual artist in history, died from a heroin overdose. Widow Basquiat is an exploration of the artist as seen through the eyes of his muse, Suzanne. It is a love story like no other.

Author description

Jennifer Clement is a poet, biographer and novelist. She is also the author of the novels A True Story Based on Lies, Prayers for the Stolen and The Poison that Fascinates. She was part of the NYC art scene during the early eighties but she now lives in Mexico City. She was recently the recipient of the Systema Nacional de Credadores. She is also co-founder and director of the San Miguel Poetry Week.
